Drone Intelligence Assessment
Anduril Industries is the most heavily capitalised non-traditional defence firm in the United States. The company's central thesis is that the traditional acquisition model produces capability too slowly and at too high a cost to match the operational tempo modern conflict now requires. Anduril's response has been a vertically integrated approach. It develops products on internal capital, then offers them to government customers as commercial off-the-shelf systems, rather than building to specification under a cost-plus contract.
The Lattice software platform is the connective tissue across the company's hardware portfolio. The April 2025 transfer of Microsoft's $22 billion IVAS programme into Anduril's stewardship and the March 2026 Army contract vehicle valued at $20 billion for Lattice integration both signal that Lattice has crossed from technology demonstration into programme-of-record status. Once embedded at programme depth, software platforms create multi-year switching costs that are extremely difficult for competitors to displace.
The company's $4 billion reported raise in March 2026 at a $60 billion valuation represents the largest single-cycle valuation expansion in US defence technology history. The lead investors, Andreessen Horowitz and Thrive Capital, are pricing Anduril against the structural shift in autonomous warfare procurement that the FY27 DAWG budget request crystallises. The execution variable is whether Anduril's manufacturing and integration capacity scales at the pace its programme commitments now require.
