ST Engineering's DrN-600 electric cargo drone and XAG's battery-powered P150 Max agricultural sprayer, both unveiled in February 2026, mark the current range of what the market covers.

An electric drone, on the definition the market-research houses share, is an unmanned aerial vehicle powered by an onboard battery rather than an internal combustion engine, a fuel cell or a hybrid system. Two published estimates size the market, and they diverge sharply because they scope it differently. Mordor Intelligence's Electric Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Market report values the segment at $5.11 billion in 2025, forecasting $10.55 billion by 2030 at a 15.6% CAGR, and names five major companies: AeroVironment, AgEagle Aerial Systems, SZ DJI Technology, Parrot Drones and Draganfly. Market Research Future's Electric Drone Market report, last updated 24 August 2026, values the market at $39.94 billion in 2024, forecasting $141.13 billion by 2035 at a 12.16% CAGR, and names a wider nine-company set that adds Wing, Zipline, Skydio, Yuneec, Insitu and senseFly alongside AeroVironment, DJI and Parrot. On this page's reading, the roughly eightfold gap between the two 2025-adjacent figures is a definition-scope gap rather than a disagreement about demand: Mordor's report reads as scoped to UAV platforms specifically, while Market Research Future's spans consumer, commercial, government and military end uses across aerial photography, agriculture, surveillance, delivery and mapping applications. Neither source states the cause of the gap.

Market Research Future segments the wider electric drone market by application (aerial photography, agriculture, surveillance, delivery services, mapping and surveying), end user (commercial, government, military, consumer), drone type (multirotor, fixed wing, hybrid) and payload capacity band, and lists North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, South America and the Middle East and Africa as the regions it covers; its regional ranking sits inside the same inconsistent boilerplate block noted above, so it is not used here.

The two player lists overlap on three names, AeroVironment, DJI and Parrot, appearing in both Mordor's five-company list and Market Research Future's nine-company list. ST Engineering unveiled the DrN-600 at Singapore Airshow on 10 February 2026, described in trade coverage as an all-electric vertical take-off and landing cargo aircraft with a 100 kg payload capacity in a 1.5 cubic metre bay, a 600 kg maximum take-off weight and a projected operational range of 70 to 120 km. Flight testing of the baseline configuration was slated to begin in the second quarter of 2026, with full design certification targeted within two years of the announcement.

XAG introduced the P150 Max agricultural drone at the Spray Drone End User Conference in Kansas City, Missouri, on 7 February 2026. The company's own page rates it for a maximum payload of 176 pounds, a flight speed of up to 44.7 mph, average spraying productivity of 50 to 60 acres an hour (peak 70 to 80) from a 21.1-gallon smart tank, and what it calls a 'Smart SuperCharge Battery' that recharges in seven minutes; the page does not use the word 'electric' directly, but the battery and recharge-time language is the basis for describing it as battery-electric here. On this page's reading, the two launches sit at opposite ends of the market's current use-case range, a heavy-lift cargo eVTOL and a fast-turnaround agricultural sprayer, and both are battery-electric rather than hybrid or fuel-cell platforms.

COMPETITIVE DYNAMICS

Mordor's restraint framing, limited endurance relative to fuel-powered UAVs, is visible in how XAG designed the P150 Max: rather than extending flight time per charge, the product leads with a seven-minute recharge cycle intended to keep the aircraft working through a spray shift. ST Engineering's DrN-600 takes the opposite approach for a different use case, trading flight duration for payload and range on a single mission rather than rapid turnaround, which on this page's reading reflects the split between agricultural and cargo-delivery duty cycles rather than a single industry-wide answer to the endurance restraint.

None of the four sources on this page supports a forecast of which vendors win the electric drone market.
