Drone Intelligence Assessment
Tekever's rise is a UK procurement story as much as a funding one. The Ministry of Defence announced on 25 July 2026 that the AR5 would replace the ageing Watchkeeper under Project Corvus, worth up to £400 million over ten years, and Shephard reported that the programme had moved from an open competition to a direct award. Tekever's own 3 August release says the capability should begin entering service later this year, subject to contract signature and final approvals, with production centred on a new facility in Swindon.
The capital followed the operational record. Tekever became a unicorn in May 2025 at a valuation above £1 billion, alongside its five-year, £400 million OVERMATCH programme for the UK. In September 2026 the first close of a $580 million Series D valued it at $6.4 billion, led by UC Investments and Baillie Gifford. The company says its systems have flown more than 50,000 operational hours in Ukraine since 2022, a figure no source reviewed verifies independently.
DI analysis: Tekever is now a European platform company with a British industrial base, which is what a sovereign surveillance-drone buyer wants to see. The open question is how the Corvus contract is finally papered. The sources reviewed confirm the selection and the ceiling, not a signed contract value or delivery schedule, and chief executive Ricardo Mendes has said the new money is meant for acquisitions as well as technology.
