Drone Intelligence Assessment

Saronic is a maritime drone company turning itself into a shipbuilder. It was founded in 2022 and valued at $1 billion in its July 2024 Series B. By March 2026 a $1.75 billion Series D led by Kleiner Perkins had put it at $9.25 billion, more than double the $4 billion of its 2025 Series C. The company says the new money goes to Port Alpha, its next-generation shipyard, and to expanding production in Louisiana and Texas.

The Navy demand signal is real but smaller than the valuation. NAVSEA formalised a production other transaction agreement with a ceiling above $392 million in May 2025, running to May 2031. DefenseScoop reported an award of nearly $197 million under it in July 2025, about half the ceiling, and a Navy official declined to give quantities, products or delivery dates. A ceiling is the most the agreement can pay, not committed revenue.

DI analysis: the bet investors are pricing is production capacity, not a single vessel. The company's own March 2026 figures point that way: a Louisiana shipyard acquired in 2025 with a $300 million expansion commitment, a first Marauder hull in under six months, more than 1,300 staff and new operations in the UK and Australia. What the sources reviewed do not give is a delivered-vessel count or audited revenue, so the gap between capacity being built and ships ordered cannot yet be measured.
